Emphasis/
Focus
This event offers the unique challenge of performing to music you have only listened to just perform competiting. Skaters in each group will hear the music 4 times, 2 times on the ice, 2 times off ice, before performing. Skaters must muake up their performance on the ice and may not receive any kind of assistance during the competition. Emphasis should be placed on choreography, reflecting the music, its theme and character. Creativity and individual moves will receive higher scoring. There is no Technical Merit score so elements will only be judged on how well they suit the music, not on their level of difficulty.
Music/
Props
The music will be preselected by the competition director for each group. Props are not allowed. A costume becomes a prop when it is detached or when used by the hands. Examples would be a hat, boa, skirt or vest which is taken off and put back on the body. The penalty for using a handheld prop in this event is a score of 2.0 under Correctness.
